John David Hayes

Mr. John David Hayes,75, of Johns Island, SC, and husband to Linda Wasdin Hayes, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, January 5, 2021. His Funeral Service will be held at Noon on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 in the West Ashley Chapel. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, one hour prior to the service, beginning at 11AM. Due to COVID protocol, masks are required and social distancing will be observed. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. West Ashley Chapel, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway.

John was born on September 23, 1945 in Charleston, SC, a son of the late Boyd Nathan Hayes and Myrtle Foster Hayes. He proudly served in the Army. John began as a boiler-maker at the Naval Shipyard, and then the nuclear division and on to SUP Ships. In the private sector, he worked as general superintendent for B & D Boilers and later became co-owner of Zuuk International, Inc. John recently retired and enjoyed spending time with his family and creating his dream of a family recreational haven on Featherbed Road in Colleton County.

Along with his wife of 51 years, he is survived by his 3 daughters and their spouses, Celeste and Marty Monette, Chanda and Scott Williams and Cara and Travis Young; his 2 granddaughters, Rebekah Monette and her spouse, "CC" Crosby, and Rachel Leahy; his 6 grandsons, Neal Monette, Ivey Leahy, Eli Monette, Owen Monette, Connor Williams and Declan Williams; his great-grandchildren, Evelyn and Latham Crosby; his brother, Robert B. Hayes; his 2 sisters, Nancy Anne Ritchie and Carolyn Slay (Bennie); and his many nieces and nephews.
