Entered into eternal rest on the evening of October 11, 2011, John William Hallett, Sr., first married to the late Oleta Coast Hallett, then to the late Elma Ruth Dague Ridgely Hallett and widower of Betty Jenkins Sobray Hallett. Residence, Mt. Pleasant, SC.  The relatives and friends are invited to attend his memorial service in The Rodenberg Chapel, Franke at Seaside, Mt. Pleasant, SC Saturday, October 29, 2011 at 10:30am. An additional Memorial Service will be conducted in St. Claresville, OH October 21, 2011 and a Committal Service will be conducted at the graveside in Stone Church Cemetery, Wheeling, West Virginia at a later date.


Mr. Hallett, Sr. was born September 14, 1918 in Wheeling, West Virginia, the son of Harry H. Hallett and Elma Patterson Hallett. He was a graduate of Linsley Institute School of Engineering. He served with the United States Army for five years during World War II as a Captain in the 1st Armor Division.  He received a Purple Heart for injuries suffered in northern Africa.  He was retired vice-president with Paull Associates, Real Estate and Insurance in Wheeling, WV.  Friends and family will always remember John by the beautiful furniture that he crafted for them.  John spent the last three years of his life in Charleston, SC.  He had many dear friends in Charleston and left behind a special friend, Ms. Annie Creadle.


He is survived by two sons: Dr. John "Jeb" Hallett, Jr. (Dr. Linda |Austin) of Charleston, SC and Dr. Jeffrey Stewart Hallett (Robin) of Georgetown, TX; two step-sons: Paul Ridgely (Carol) of Wheeling, WV and Charles Ridgely of Providence, RI; one sister Martha Kiger (Donald) of Wheeling, WV; one grandson: John Bradley Hallett (Jennifer) of Bayfield, MN; one granddaughter: Rachel Hallett of Georgetown, TX; and many nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren.  He was predeceased by a daughter Mary Ann; two brothers, Richard Hallett and Robert Hallett.
