John August Green, 70, of Mt. Pleasant, SC, passed away on Tuesday, February 20th, 2018. Born in Brooklyn, New York to August and Theresa Green, he lived in New York, Maryland, New Jersey and the last 20 years, in South Carolina.
Raised in Bay Ridge Brooklyn, John attended the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn, graduating in 1968 as a Chemical Engineer. Most of his career was spent working for Domino Sugar where he spent over 40 years. He was recently the president of the Alliance Francaise organization in Charleston. He was a passionate man who loved living life every day, whether it was enjoying doo-wop and rock and roll, traveling to other countries, spending time in the outdoors, or simply spending time with his family and close friends…he loved every minute of it.
He is survived by his wife Barbara of Mt. Pleasant, his sons Michael and wife Jen, Mark and his wife Sam, Gary and his wife Ashley, his daughter Vicki, and four grandchildren, Amanda, Carly, Hayley, and Cassidy; and his sister, Ginny. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
A celebration of life service will be held at the residence on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 2:00 pm and followed by a gathering of friends.
