John Patrick Ford, born October 15, 1955 in Charleston, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest on November 27th, 2018. Patrick, or Bubba, as he was lovingly called by his family, was a son, brother, father, grandfather, husband, uncle, and loyal friend to many. A Lowcountry favorite son, he was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, camping, golfing, and all the splendors of his southern roots. Bubba was a jovial man who loved playing jokes and brought laughter to all who knew him. He was intelligent, thoughtful, and compassionate. Patrick graduated from Clemson University in 1978 and had a successful career in real estate, development, and construction here in the Lowcountry. He is survived by his two loving daughters, Elizabeth "Lizzie" Tabor Ford (Nathan Laird) and Carrie Lee Hornett (Jamie Hornett), as well as his precious granddaughter, Harper Hazelyn Hornett, and the mother of his children, Pamela Murphy Ford, all of Charleston. He is also survived by his immediate family, his mother and the stalwart matriarch of the family, Vera Dell Riser Ford, his sisters, Susan Lee Ford and her husband Hank Hofford, and Vera Anne Ford and her husband Peter Lehman, all of Charleston. In addition, he leaves behind several nieces and nephews, Missy, Anna, Jessica, John, Joseph and Mack. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph T. Ford, Sr., brother, Joseph T. Ford, Jr., and nephew, Matthew Alan Ford.
The family will receive friends for a Celebration of Life service on December 21st at 3:00 PM in the Sturh's Funeral Chapel in Downtown Charleston. A private scattering of his ashes will be held by his family on the High Battery at the moment of the Winter Solstice on December 21st, signifying more light to come in the following days, for Bubba always brought a special light into the hearts of those he loved.
