John Lewis Ferguson

John Lewis Ferguson Jr., 69, of Folly Beach, S.C., husband of Shirley "Shan" Callahan Ferguson, passed away at his home in Lake Lure, NC, on Friday, August 22, 2014. His funeral service will be held Monday, August 25, 2014, in James Island Presbyterian Church, 1632 Fort Johnson Road, at 1:00 p.m. Interment, churchyard. The family will receive friends at the church Monday one hour prior to the service. Reception following at Bowens Island Restaurant. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL.

John was born February 2, 1945 in Rock Hill, SC, son of the late John Lewis Ferguson Sr. and the late Virginia Goins Ferguson. He was an independent insurance agent and entrepreneur. John was a graduate of University of South Carolina and a member of James Island Presbyterian Church. In his own words, John was also a "cat advocate, a tractor driver, planter, dirt digger, wannabe carpenter and prolific sweater at Ferguson Farms".

He is survived by his wife, Shan, of Folly Beach; two sons, Jonathan "Jon" M. Frye (Amy) of James Island and W. Mark Frye (Julie) of Charleston; and five grandchildren: Cameron (KK), Brynnan (Bryn-Bryn), Brady (Bradford), Cohen (Rocco) and Ryan (Cupcake). His wife, boys and grandchildren were the light of his life.
