John C. Farmer, Jr. , 76, of West Columbia, South Carolina, widower of Sandra Mercer Farmer died Tuesday, July 25, 2017. The family will receive friends Wednesday in J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. His funeral service will be held at the graveside Thursday, July 27, 2017 in Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens, 1308 Mathis Ferry Road, Mt. Pleasant, SC at 11:00 a.m.

John was born February 22, 1941 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of the late John C. Farmer, Sr. and Elizabeth Farmer. He was a 1960 graduate of the High School of Charleston and served in company B, First Battalion, 118th Infantry (Washington Light Infantry) SC Army National Guard. John was a professional bus driver for the Trailways Bus Company, Greyhound and retired from Capitol Tours. He was a member of the Washington Light Infantry and the Knights of Columbus. John was also a Mason, a member of the Scottish Rite and Omar Shrine Temple.

He is survived by his sister-in-law, Delores J. Campbell of West Columbia, SC; five brothers and sisters; one grandson, Jason Daniel Martin; one aunt; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Edward D. Farmer; and a grandson, Jeffrey Warren Johnson.
