John Edward Wilson, aged 85, of North Charleston, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest on Friday, February 13, 2026. Born on December 11, 1940, in Trio, South Carolina, he was the beloved son of the late John William Wilson and the late Eliza Blakely.

John was a devoted family man, a hardworking entrepreneur, and a truly generous soul. Known for his kind heart and giving nature, he never hesitated to help someone in need, whether through a listening ear, wise advice, or a helping hand. He had a way of making people feel welcomed, valued, and respected, and he formed lasting friendships wherever he went.

He proudly served in the Army National Guard, demonstrating his lifelong commitment to his country and community. John was proud to be a Shriner and a Constable. John’s career began with the CSX Railroad. A self-made businessman, John owned and operated many businesses on Dorchester Road: Wilson’s Used Cars, Wilson’s Towing, Legends Auto Sales, Fidelity Finance, Kangaroo Lounge, Sundown Club, The Unicorn Social Club, Hoppin’ John’s, Rockin’ John’s, JW’s Nightclub, Hiro’s Japanese Steakhouse and Ed’s Gameroom. Through dedication, integrity, and perseverance, he built a legacy of hard work and entrepreneurship that he took great pride in.

When he wasn’t at the car lot or attending auctions, John could often be found in the woods hunting—his favorite place to relax and reflect. Being outdoors brought him peace and joy, and it was one of the many passions that shaped who he was.

Above all, John cherished his family. He is survived by his two daughters, Evelyne Yvette Wilson (Esther) of Charleston, SC, and Tina Elizabeth Wilson Gold of Hanahan, SC; his grandchildren, Erica Dianne Furman, Kristen Alicia Furman, Randy Michael Gold Jr. (Kaleigh), Katelyn Elizabeth Gold, John Wilson Lucas Gold (Emily), John Michael Stewart Whatley and Jacob Tucker Gold, ten great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. His love, guidance, and steady presence will continue to live on through them.

Preceding him in death were his parents, John William Wilson and Eliza Wilson, who played an important role in shaping the strong, compassionate man he became.

John will be remembered for his warm smile, generous heart, strong work ethic, and unwavering love for his family. His life was a testament to kindness, perseverance, and devotion, and his memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who were blessed to know him.
