John Billingsley DiMaggio, 74, of Summerville, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest Friday, January 13, 2023. His Funeral Service will be held Saturday, January 21, 2023 in the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., West Ashley Chapel, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway at 4:00 pm. The family will receive friends two hours prior to service. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. West Ashley Chapel.
John was born April 3, 1948 in Buffalo, New York, son of the late Nunzio DiMaggio and Marcellyn Billingsley DiMaggio. He was a retired accountant and business owner. John was most proud of being a dad and grandpa. He loved cooking, listening to music, and good conversation. John was always positive, and went with the flow, especially when that meant he could be helpful or spend more time with his family. He would remind us of what is truly important: good food, travel, family, and the Buffalo Bills.
He is survived by his former spouse Lynn Daugherty of North Charleston; two daughters, Kim DiMaggio Peatross (William) of Summerville, SC, and Kelly Wamser (Josh) of Greenville, SC; son, Tony DiMaggio (Nate Copeland) of Modesto, CA; three brothers, Dana DiMaggio (Christine), Anthony DiMaggio (Jane), and Michael DiMaggio all of Buffalo, NY; sister, Marcellyn Smith (Brian) of NC; sister-in-law, Diane DiMaggio of Buffalo, NY; four grandchildren, Thomas Wamser, Annabeth Wamser, Jonathan Reifer, and Asher Peatross. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Paul DiMaggio and sister, Margaret Witherow.
Memorials may be made to MUSC for heart research.
