John William Crumrine, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, (formerly of Cincinnati, Ohio), passed away Thursday, October 1, 2015. His Funeral Service will be held Saturday, October 3, 2015 in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday in the Mount Pleasant Chapel from 10:00 until time of the service.
John "Jack" Crumrine was born to Maebell and Homer Crumrine on November 27, 1930 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He served in the United States Army. He graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 1955 with a bachelor of Business Administration degree. He also graduated from Xavier University of Cincinnati in 1962 with a Masters of Business Administration degree. He worked two years in public accounting and received a CPA certificate in 1963. During this time he worked for Armco Steel Corporation in Middletown, Ohio as construction accountant as the company expanded and improved its steel making facilities. Following that, he joined Avco Corporation as a corporate auditor and audited company operations around the country of this conglomerate company. He was offered a job as Manager of Cost Accounting at AVCO Lycoming at Charleston, SC. He was pleased to accept that offer. After several years, the plant closed and he became treasurer/controller of companies for the next fifteen years. He then formed his own business as a residential homebuilder and designer and enjoyed that over the next 20 plus years. He prepared taxes at H&R Block until the age of 82. He received a certificate of Enrolled Agent with the IRS. He was a long time member of Westminster Presbyterian Church.
While in the Charleston area, he volunteered for several years at Habitat for Humanity helping with construction. He also volunteered as receptionist at the Yorktown aircraft carrier museum at Patriots Point in Mount Pleasant, SC and as a counselor at SCORE (Service Corps of Retired Executives).
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Barbara Ann Wilson Crumrine; his daughter, Vickie Hirsch (Jeff) of Augusta, Michigan; two sons, John D. Crumrine (Marcia) of Folly Beach, South Carolina and Barry Crumrine (Rhonda) of Meridianville, Alabama; eight grandchildren, Abbie Crumrine of Boone, North Carolina, Marie Fiascunari (Giancarlo) of Columbus, Ohio, Tom Crumrine (Megan) of Charleston, South Carolina, Heather Hirsch of Cincinnati, Ohio, Jeffrey Hirsch (LeAnna) of Battle Creek, Michigan, Hannah Bradford (Ben) of Muscle Shoals, Alabama, John Hirsch of Augusta, Michigan, and Miles Crumrine of Meridianville, Alabama; 5 great-grandchildren, Lukas & Camilla Fiascunari of Columbus, Ohio, Ellianna & Peyton Bradford of Muscle Shoals, Alabama, and Hugh Crumrine of Charleston, South Carolina. He loved and lived for his wife and family.
