John Edwin Cox, Sr.

John Edwin Cox, Sr. , 89, of Moncks Corner, South Carolina, husband of Phyllis E. Cox entered into eternal rest Friday, September 22, 2023. His funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at 11:00am in J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Northwoods Chapel.   The family will receive friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 in J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Northwoods Chapel.  Burial will be at Plantation Memorial Gardens, Moncks Corner. 

John was born September 23, 1933 in Taylors, South Carolina, son of the late John  W. Cox and Evelyn Ward  Cox.  He was a Retired Foreman with Westvaco. Mr. Cox moved to the Charleston area after High School. He served in the United States Army in Germany.  He loved Clemson Football, NASCAR, Fishing and Golf.  He loved being a part of the VFW but most of all he enjoyed getting together with his family.  

He is survived by his three sons, John E. Cox, Jr. (Joe) of Silver Spring, MD., Larry Barnes of Summerville and  Dave Sexton (Courtney) of Goose Creek; four daughters, Ann Bates (Charlie) of James Island, Clarice Miller (TJ) of Middlesex, NY, Deloris Hudson of Mt. Pleasant and Terri Green of Summerville; 13 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren and one on the way.  He was predeceased by his first wife, Florine Crosby Cox, his parents, John W. Cox and Evelyn Ward Cox, two sons; Boyde Lee Barnes "Buddy" and Russell James Barnes and two brothers; William R. Cox and Joseph W. Cox
