John Wade Cochran, 81, passed away on January 3, 2025, in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, at Franke at Seaside after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson's disease. Born on March 5, 1943, in Richmond, Virginia, he leaves behind a legacy filled with love, dedication, and quiet generosity.
A proud graduate of Clemson University, Class of 1965, John made significant contributions to the textile industry as a manager for Milliken and later for Crompton-Shenandoah Company. After working in the textile industry, he started the Cochran Building Company. His career reflected not only his professional expertise but also his unwavering commitment to excellence in his field.
John's warm personality was characterized by his soft-spoken nature and kind demeanor, qualities that endeared him to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He was a devoted family man and a lifelong fan of Clemson sports, particularly football, embodying the spirit of loyalty and passion.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Johna Williams Cochran; his son, John Grayson Cochran, and his wife, Kari, of Brambleton, Virginia; his daughter, Katherine Harbin Cochran, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina; and his cherished grandchildren, Jack and Jessee Cochran. He is also survived by his brother, Robert "Bob" Cochran, and sister-in-law, Marchita Culpepper.
John was preceded in death by his parents, John Lewis Cochran and Margaret Harbin Cochran.
A memorial service celebrating John's life will be held on January 12, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church, located at 302 Hibben St, Mount Pleasant, SC 29464. A visitation will follow at the same location in the fellowship hall, providing family and friends an opportunity to come together in remembrance and support.
In addition to his love for his family, John had a passion for woodworking, showcasing his talent through many handcrafted pieces. His legacy will undoubtedly live on in the memories cherished by those who knew and loved him. John Wade Cochran will be missed deeply, but his spirit and contributions to his family, community, and profession will forever remain in the hearts of those he touched.
