John Thomas Church, Jr., 59, of Hanahan, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest Saturday, November 11, 2023 at home with his sister at his side. The family will receive friends on Friday, November 17, 2023 in the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Northwoods Chapel from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm.

Johnny was born January 14, 1964 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of the late John Thomas Church Sr., and the late Betty Jane Daves Church. He was a graduate of Hanahan High School class of 1982, and the College of Charleston and received his Juris-Doctor degree from the University of Mississippi. Johnny began his career as a solicitor and in recent years has been a public defender based in Berkeley County. Among his many different interests, Johnny was an avid reader, a self scholar, and enjoyed riding his mountain bike. He cherished his friendships, always loyal and at the ready to help.

He is survived by his sister, Dixie Church of Abbeville, MS; and niece, Christie Weeks of West Lafayette, IN.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Carolyn Church Weeks; and niece, Donna Suzanne Weeks.

In lieu of flowers, donations made in Johnny's memory towards cancer research, environmental causes, or to a charity of one's choice are appreciated.
