John was born February 17, 1940 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of Lucuis Martin Cattles and Lillian Cammer Cattles.

He is survived by wife, Tenia M. Cattles; daughter, Kim Cattles (Vince Martinez); and beloved dog, Rutledge.
