John Allen Carter, 91, of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of Anne Stevens Carter entered into eternal rest Friday, July 1, 2016. His Funeral Service will be held Monday, July 4, 2016 in Charleston Baptist Church, 13 San Miguel Road at 10:00 a.m. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway.

John was born December 23, 1924 in Yazoo City, Mississippi, son of the late James Carter and Ellen Beasley Carter. He was a WWII Veteran with the U.S. Marine Corp and recipient of The Purple Heart. John was a retired mechanical engineer. He was a mason and a member of Charleston Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Anne Carter of Charleston, SC; son, John Allen Carter, Jr. of MO; daughter, Cynthia Alderson of AL; three step-daughters, Shari Kasten (Randy) of Charleston, SC, Kae Taylor (Legree) of Charleston, SC, and Elizabeth Reindollar (Andy) of Reevesville, SC; two sisters, Mary Kelly, of Bryam, MS, and June Thomas of Brandon, MS; eleven grandchildren, Crystal, Dawn, Jennifer, April, Anette, Randy, II., Kyle, Krystal, Kurt, Kelsee, Amber Howard. He is preceded in death by his brothers and a sister, James Owen, Jr., William C. Carter, Harry Carter, and Betty Rose.
