John Perry Burbage

John Perry Burbage, 70, of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of Kellyanne Burbage entered into eternal rest Tuesday, May 2, 2023. His Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, May 10, 2023 in St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, 405 King Street at 11:00 am. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel.
 
John was born November 26, 1952 in Joanna, South Carolina, son of Perry Rufus Burbage and Thelma Pinson Burbage.  A graduate of Clemson University, John managed many large construction projects focusing on heavy highways and bridges. He helped direct the construction of the Charleston International Airport, the widening of Ashley Phosphate Road, and the construction of the Limehouse Bridge. John served as president of ASAC (American Association of Sub Contractors of the Carolinas). As a Scout Leader he mentored many Eagle Scouts over the years. He served on the St. Matthew's Church Council and successfully led six mission trips to Tanzania. 
 
Along with his wife of 46 years, Kellyanne, he is survived by his two sons, Paul (Melanie) Burbage, Benjamin (Tonje) Burbage; two sisters, Mary Beth Doyle and Anita Raines; and four grandchildren, Sawyer Burbage, Riley Burbage, Leah Burbage, and Ella Grace Burbage.
 
Memorials may be made to Respite Care of Charleston and St. Matthew's Lutheran Church.
