John William Buck

John William Buck, 66, of Charleston, South Carolina, died Wednesday, December 27, 2017. His Funeral Service will be held Saturday, January 13, 2018 in St. Johns Parish Church, 3673 Maybank Highway at 1:00 p.m. A reception will immediately follow in the Parish Hall. Interment, Saint James Churchyard. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel.

John was born in Charleston, SC July 31, 1951 to the late Myrtle Horton Buck and Alton W Buck. He was predeceased by his brother Edgar A Buck and sister Anne Buck. He graduated from Charleston Southern University in 1975. He was a member of the Charleston Yacht Club and St. John's Parish Church. John was retired from the SC Railways Railroad. He was a major supporter and member of the Brigadier Foundation at the Citadel and a supporter of the Citadel Basketball Association.

John was a big guy with an even bigger heart. He was always volunteering to help someone with an event. He loved to cook before his health declined. Everyone who knew John, knew that when he walked through the door he would have two arms full of goodies to share. John loved people and he had friends from all walks of life. Many of John's friends have come forward at this time to share stories of his love and generosity; painting a picture of a very loyal friend. His big, loud, loving presence will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
