John McGill Brown, 68, of Ridgeville, SC, widower of Linda Johnson Brown, entered into eternal rest Thursday, April 16, 2015. His funeral service will be held in J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway, Monday, April 20, 2015, at 2:00 p.m.. Interment will follow in Live Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends in the chapel from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service.
John was born June 17, 1946 in Charleston, SC, son of the late Charlie McGill Brown and the late Bessie Brinson Brown. He held numerous jobs throughout his lifetime, of which his favorite was a track hoe operator. John spent many years on the road as a semi-truck driver, traveling all over the United States.
He is survived by his three daughters: Karen Self (David) of Ridgeville, Stacy Bowers (Chuck) of Bamberg and Tracey Lynch (Robert) of Ridgeville; a son, John M. Brown, Jr. of Ridgeville; three brothers: Vernon Brown of Illinois, Allen Brown of Ridgeville and Jack Brown of Summerville; six sisters: Thersie Hyde of Sumter, Warnetta Wilson of Summerville, Lee Godfroy of North Charleston, Louise Williams of Hanahan, Violet Wright of Round-O and Linda Brown of Summerville; thirteen grandchildren: John Self (Kim), Alex Brown, Daniel Self, Cassandra Brown, Tiffany Brown, Matthew Self, Christopher Lynch, Ashton Bowers, Haley Parker, Sean Parker, Tristan Bowers and John Pungirum; four great-grandchildren; Dana Hawley, Emily Self, Brice Self and Caroline Sanders; 30 nieces and nephews; and numerous great nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his loving wife; his parents; brothers, Leonard Brown and Charlie Brown; and a sister, Dorothy Rivers.
