Joel Denton, 58, of West Jefferson, North Carolina, passed away Thursday, March 16, 2017. His funeral service will be held Saturday, March 25, 2017 in the Wando Woods Baptist Church, 4123 Dorsey Avenue, North Charleston at 3:00 pm. Interment will follow at Riverview Memorial Park, 3715 Azalea Drive, North Charleston. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Arrangements by J. Born November 27, 1958 in Charleston, South Carolina, Joel was the son of Mary Leona Ackerman Denton and the late Harold Edward Denton. Joel attended Garrett High School and graduated from Jacksonville community college with an employment history spanning years of service as a quality inspector at Lockheed Martin and Boeing. Most recently, Joel worked with Freedom Farm Ministries. Joel enjoyed fishing, boating, watching NASCAR, and was mechanically skilled and a talented artist.

He is survived by his son, Christopher Marlowe of Brookfield, OH; mother, Leona Denton, sister, Laurie Pate and her husband Jim, all of Apex, NC; brother, Charles Denton of Jacksonville, FL; nephews and nieces: Shawn Buckler, James Pate, Amelia Pate, Emily Pate, Gage Denton, Carly Thomas; and former spouse, Ursula Marlowe of Brookfield, OH.
