Joel Hunter Crook, 69, of Summerville, South Carolina, husband of the late Cynthia Ava Litowitz, entered into eternal rest Monday, July 24, 2023. His  graveside service will be held Tuesday, August 1, 2023 in Kahal Kadosh Beth Elohim Cemetery, Huguenin Avenue, at 1:00 pm.  Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel.

Joel was born January 9, 1954 in Orangeburg, South Carolina, son of Gaines  Crook and Bettie Benson Crook.  He worked in IT as a Network Administrator and was a member Kahal Kadosh Beth Elohim Congregation. He was a great lover of music and religion, often combining passions of songwriting and his thoughts on God and people. He never met a guitar or a cat he didn’t try to bring home. He tried to instill the understanding that life was an opportunity to learn and one should never shy away from it. 

He is survived by his sister-in-law, Wendy Lynn Litowitz Frederick; daughter, Harlee Levy Whitehead; and three grandchildren, Damian, Samantha and Jensen.
