Joanne Claire Passanesi Broderick, aged 86, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Friday, April 17, 2026. Born on November 17, 1939, in Brooklyn, New York, Joanne was the beloved daughter of the late Joseph Passanesi and the late Anna Santora Passanesi.

Joanne is survived by her children: James Maloney and his wife Katrina of Hyde Park, NY; Stacey McLoughlin and her husband Hugh of Mount Pleasant, SC; Stephanie Sperling and her husband William of Lithia, FL; Joellyn Tuohy and her husband Patrick of Northport, NY; Tricia Sloan and her husband Ricky of Apex, NC. Her love extended to her grandchildren: Hannah Schieber and her husband Cody, David Sperling and his wife Brooke, Joseph Sperling, John Merritt and his wife Mercy, Michaela Sperling, Marriana Maloney, Claire McLoughlin, Elaina McLoughlin, Harrison Sloan, Josie Tuohy, Finn Tuohy; and her great-grandchild, Kaley Schieber.

In addition to her parents, Joanne was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harold Broderick, with whom she shared many wonderful years of marriage, travel, and adventure. Following a successful career in sales, Joanne and Harry retired to North Carolina’s Eastern Shore, where they formed many cherished, lifelong friendships.

After relocating to Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, Joanne became a devoted member of St. Benedict Catholic Church. Her faith and active involvement in the parish community were central to her life.

Funeral services will be held at St. Benedict Catholic Church, located at 950 Darrell Creek Trail, on May 11 at 2:00pm. Following the service, the family will welcome friends at a reception at the Wando River Grill, 133 Nautical Lane, Mount Pleasant. Internment will take place on Saturday, June 6 at 10:00am at St Charles Cemetery, Farmingdale, NY.

Joanne’s passing is deeply mourned by all who knew her, but her memory endures in the hearts of her family and community.
