Joan Lorena Smith Young, 82, wife of LTC. Harold G. Young, USA Chemical Corp (Ret) of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, died Thursday, November 29, 2012. Funeral Services will be held at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR INC. FUNERAL CHAPELS, MOUNT PLEASANT LOCATION.
Joan was born on October 28, 1930 in Portland, Oregon, daughter of the late Frank Smith and Laverne Wilson Smith. She was a former ballet dancer with the American Ballet Theatre.
She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Harold G. Young of Mount Pleasant, SC; one daughter, Susan Stearns Young of California, one step daughter, Sabrina Young Williams and her husband, Dale, of Kiawah Island, SC and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Steven Wilson Stearns and a step-son Andrew Lawrence Young.
