Joan Gieschen Marlow Riley, 74, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, wife of Charles Riley passed away on Friday, August 2, 2013. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, August 6, 2013 in Christ Our King Catholic Church, 1149 Russell Drive at 10:30 am. Prayers of Final Commendation and Farewell will follow at St. Lawrence Cemetery . Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR INC MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL.
Mrs. Riley was born August 13, 1938 in Charleston, South Carolina, daughter of the late John Buist and Louise Gieschen Marlow. She was employed with Bellsouth, Christ Our King Stella Maris Catholic School, and the Pitt Street Pharmacy. Mrs. Riley was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. A member of Christ Our King Catholic Church, she was a member of the Christ Our King Senior Ministry group, as well as helping make rosaries. In her spare time she was active in the community, enjoyed knitting, yardwork, and spending time with her family and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Riley of Mount Pleasant, SC; her sons, John Riley of Mt. Pleasant, SC, and Paul Riley and his wife, Melissa of Medford, NJ; and her grandchildren, Sean, Casey, and Keeley Riley, all of Medford, NJ. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Hazel Bryant, Frances Pierce, Meta Cox, and Bertha Mixon.
