Joan Porter Rideout

Joan Porter Rideout, 76, of Charleston, South Carolina, widow of Donald Carl Rideout, entered into eternal rest on the evening of Friday, July 27, 2012. A Grace Episcopal Funeral Service will be held in St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 18 Thomas Street, Friday, August 10, 2012, at 12 noon. Burial services will be conducted at a later date in Bethany Beach, Delaware. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL.

Mrs. Rideout was born February 10, 1936 in Glen Ridge, New Jersey, a daughter of the late Newton Porter, Jr. and the late Alma Bishop Porter. She attended Douglas College and Katharine Gibbs School, and was a retired insurance secretary. Mrs. Rideout was a member of Grace Episcopal Church,and was active with the James Island Senior Center.

She is survived by her daughter, Laura R. Schroeder (John) of Charleston; two sons, D. Scott Rideout (Amy) of Triangle, VA, and David P. Rideout (Yvonne) of San Diego, CA; two siblings, James L. Rideout (Marylu) of Sun City, AZ and James C. Reichardt (Karen) of Rancho Mirage, CA; and grandchildren, Alexander J. Schroeder, Benjamin D. Schroeder, Bethany L. Schroeder, Kendra Y. Rideout and Eleanor J. Rideout.
