Joan McKnight Bishop

Joan McKnight Bishop, 83, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, wife of the late MSgt. Donald Leo Bishop, Sr. USAF (Ret.) died Tuesday, April 4, 2017. Her Funeral Service will be held Thursday, April 6, 2017 in the J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road at 2:00 p.m. Interment, Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until time of the service at the funeral home.

Joan was born December 8, 1933 in Charlotte, North Carolina, daughter of the late Joseph Elmer McKnight and the late Daisy Hewitt McKnight. She was a devoted homemaker and was a charter member of the First Baptist Church of Mount Pleasant.

She is survived by her daughter, Deanna "Dede" Bishop Kennedy (Sean); daughter-in-law, Karen Bryant (Tommy); grandchildren, Kalee Bishop, Kody Geddings, Noah Kennedy, and Jack Kennedy, all of Mt. Pleasant, SC; nephews, Jody McKnight, Dougal McKnight, Robert Bradford; and niece, Jeanne Dillon.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Donald "Dondi" Leo Bishop, Jr.; and her siblings, Joseph E. McKnight, Jr., Joyce Ann Bradford, and Joel V. McKnight.
