Jo Beth Monroe Stennett, 84, passed away unexpectedly on September 4, 2026.

Jo Beth was the beloved wife of the late Frank L. Stennett. She was born on February 9, 1942, in Greenwood, South Carolina, and had made Charleston her home since 1961. She was the daughter of the late Joseph Pierce Monroe and Frances Anderson Monroe Street.

Her Funeral Service will be held Friday, September 11, 2026 at the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., West Ashley Chapel, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway, at 11:00 am.

Jo Beth was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Street. She is survived by her brother, James Street (Doris); her daughters, Nancy Miller (David) and Debbie Hertel (Robert); her grandchildren, Gracie Nowak (Mitchel), Chip Miller, Kurt Hertel (Rebecca), Gretchen Hertel, and Peter Hertel; her great-grandchildren, Vivian, Trey, and Will Hertel; and her twin great-grandsons, Mason and Miller Nowak.

Jo Beth graduated from Greenwood High School and attended Palmer College. She was a dedicated employee of the accounting firm Schleeter, Monsen & DeBacker, where she led the computer operations department from 1965 until her retirement.

Jo Beth was a devoted Christian whose faith was at the center of her life. She cherished studying the Bible and the teachings of Jesus. Her father was only 23 years old when he died, just a few months before Jo Beth was born. Reflecting on her faith and the people who influenced her life, she wrote in her testimony:

"God drew me closer to Him because I didn't have an earthly father. Praise the Lord for those who prayed for me - the Christian relatives and neighbors who took me to church, and my piano teacher who never failed to hand out Gospel tracts to her students at each music lesson."

Jo Beth and Frank attended Grace on the Ashley, where she especially enjoyed helping with baptisms. She was also a member of a quilting group called Covers and was especially grateful for the friendship and fellowship it provided after Frank passed away.

Jo Beth brought warmth to family gatherings in countless ways, and no gathering was complete without her pound cake. She was a wonderful cook, a talented piano player, an avid reader, and a devoted student of the Bible.

She loved spoiling her grandchildren and always looked forward to their visits.

Those who knew Jo Beth will remember her sweetness and gentle nature, as well as the strong-willed, independent woman who was steadfast in her beliefs. Her faith, her devotion to her family, and the love she shared with those around her will be deeply missed.
