Jimmy Joe Smith

Entered into eternal rest on the morning of May 15, 2011, Master Sergeant, Jimmy Joe Smith, USAF (Retired), husband of Monice Martin Brockington Smith.  Residence, Johns Island, South Carolina.  A gathering of family and friends will be held Wednesday morning, May 18, 2011 at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at a later date in Cedar Swamp United Methodist Church Cemetery, Kingstree, SC. 

Mr. Smith was born on August 10, 1947 in Pasedena, Texas.  Jimmy received a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas A & M and was a retired MSG with United States Air Force.  He served during the Vietnam War and received the Air Force Commendation Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm and Gold Star. He also received a Purple Heart.  He was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church, James Island, SC. 

Surviving are his wife Monice Smith of Johns Island; step-daughter, Kate Brockington Marshall and her husband James Marshall; and other loving family.
