Jewel "Barbara" Smith

Jewel Steen Smith, 80, of Dorchester, South Carolina, widow of Robert C. Smith, entered into eternal rest Thursday, August 28, 2014. Her Funeral Service will be held Sunday, August 31, 2014 in J. Henry Stuhr Inc., West Ashley Chapel, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway at 3:00 pm. Interment, Live Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm in Stuhr's West Ashley Chapel.

Jewel was born May 28, 1934 in Charleston, South Carolina, a daughter of the late John Steen and Tera Marshall Steen. She was a retired Registered Nurse and was of the Baptist faith.

She is survived by her two daughters, Barbara Lynn Sims of Dorchester, SC and Debbie Franks (Len) of Cottageville, SC; two sons, Robert Anthony Smith (Katherine) of Dorchester, SC and John Smith (Bernadette) of Ladson, SC; two sisters, Johnnie Mae Winn of Sumter, SC and Emmie Smith of North Charleston, SC; seven grandchildren, Judson Franks, Christopher Smith, Amber Sauls, Jennifer Sims, Andrew Connor, Brenna Smith and Kristen Smith; and a great-grandson, Hunter Sauls. She was deceased by five brothers, Roland Steen, Hazel Steen, Hobert Steen, Willard Steen, Stanley Steen and four sisters, Ora Dell Smith, Annelle Steen, Juanita Steen and Ara Steen.
