Jessie Edwards Cannon, wife of the late Edgar Elbert Cannon, of Mt. Pleasant, SC, passed away peacefully at her home, on Saturday, May 19, 2012. The relatives and friends of Jessie Cannon are invited to attend her Funeral Service on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 604 Pitt Street, Mt. Pleasant, SC at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens. ARRANGEMENTS BY J. HENRY STUHR MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL. The family will receive friends on Monday, May 21, 2012 in the Mount Pleasant Chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
Mrs. Cannon was born in Conway, South Carolina, daughter of Charles Brice Edwards and Carrie Johnson Edwards. She was an active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Mt. Pleasant, where she served on the Altar Guild and was a member of the Concordia Circle and Thursday Morning Bible Study Group. She was also a member of the Mt. Pleasant Garden Club, and was a familiar face in the Old Village area of Mt. Pleasant, where she worked for over twenty years at the Pitt Street Pharmacy and also at Coleman's Hardware Store.
She was preceded in death by her son, Glenn Charles Cannon. She is survived by her daughter-in-law Dolly Dangerfield Cannon, of Isle of Palms; three grandsons, Glenn Ashley Cannon and his wife Kelley, Charles Dax Cannon and his wife Treva, and Spencer O'Neil Cannon and his wife Kristi; and five great-grandsons, Mason, Mills, Brice, Briggs and Wyatt. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Reba Beale of Conway, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister Frances "Frank" Causey, and her brother Holbert "Hob" Edwards.
