Entered into eternal rest, after an extended illness and on his father's birthday, on Tuesday, January 31, 2012, Jervey Raymond Craven, Jr., 66, of Charleston. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service on Friday, February 3, 2012 at 2:00 pm at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway. Interment to follow at Live Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 2, from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Stuhr's West Ashley Chapel.
Mr. Craven was born on August 8, 1945 in Charleston, SC. He is the son of Gloria Burbage Craven and the son of the late Jervey Raymond Craven, Sr.. He was a carpenter, an avid hunter, and a graduate of Murray Vocational School. Raymond was a member of St. Andrews First Baptist Church, Charleston Elks Club and the American Legion Post #179.
Survivors include his mother, Gloria Burbage Craven, to whom he was devoted, of Charleston; a son, Timothy R. Craven of Charleston; three sisters, Joyce C. Evans (Jerry) of Ravenel; Lynda C. Jones of Johns Island; Donna C. Strickland and husband (Jack) of Rogers, Arkansas; two brothers, Ronald G. Craven and Arthur D. Craven of Charleston; nieces and nephews; a best friend, Johnny Reeves and wife (Candy) of Hollywood. Raymond was preceded in death by one of his best friends and brother-in-law, Michael Jones.
Memorials may be made to Harvest Health and Rehabilitation, 3647 Maybank Highway, Johns Island, SC 29455. This is to honor the excellent care, compassion and service that Raymond received during his illness.
