Jerry Theodore Cypress

Chief Jerry Theodore Cypress, Jr., 73, of Ravenel, South Carolina, husband of Sylvia Hooks Cypress entered into eternal rest Monday, November 12, 2012. A Funeral Service will be held Friday, November 16, 2012 in the Pincecrest Baptist Church, 1285 Ashley Hall Road at 11:30 am. Interment, Live Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday in J. HENRY STUHR WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Jerry was born June 1, 1939 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of Jerry Theodore Cypress and Anne Easterling Cypress. He was a retired Batallion Chief with Charleston City Fire Department and was employed with Charleston Public Works for eighteen years, Jerry was a member of the South Carolina State Firefighters Association and the Charleston Street Rod Association.He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sylvia Cypress of Ravenel; son, Jerry Theodore Cypress, III of James Island; daughter, Maria C. Kingston (Christopher) of Charleston; grandchildren, Jonathan Kingston, Nicole Kingston, Tiffany Kingston and Braxton Cypress.The family requests memorials may be made to Pinecrest Baptist Church, "Roof Fund" 1285 Ashley Hall Road, Charleston, SC 29407.
