Jerrold Watson Beach

Jerrold Watson Beach, 96, of Mount Pleasant, SC, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, May 15, 2021. He was a resident of Franke at Seaside for his last ten years. His private graveside service, for immediate family only, will be held at Live Oak Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel.

Jerrold was born July 28, 1924 in Edgefield, SC, a son of the late Reverend Fritz C. Beach and Belle Brannon Beach. He attended The Citadel and graduated from USC with a BS in Chemistry. He served with the US Merchant Marines during WW II from 1944-1946. After the war he married Annis Ione Sims and they were married for 66 years. Jerrold was employed as a Laboratory Chemist for Mobile Chemicals in Charleston beginning in 1948 and retired after 35 years of service.

Jerrold joined Bethel United Methodist Church in 1948 and he was a lifetime member and sang in the church choir. His joy in life was his family and church. Jerrold was a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather. To all who knew him, he was a kind, humble man and a true southern gentleman. In his love of nature and the Lowcountry, he enjoyed many years at his weekend home on Wadmalaw Island. Over the years, in his love for music, he composed and wrote the lyrics of many classical piano pieces that he shared with family and friends.

He is survived by his son, Jerrold W. Beach, Jr. of Wadmalaw Island, SC; his daughter, Ruth B. Mills, of Charleston, SC and Catherine W. Davies and husband Andrew, of Daniel island, SC; grandson, Matthew B. Beach of CO; granddaughter, Jennifer Parson and husband Thomas of Hanahan, SC; granddaughter, Brandy Piscatella and husband Tony of Summerville, SC; six great-grandchildren, Arbor, Oakley, Christopher, Caitlyn, Cassidy, Thomas, Toni and Mateo.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Bethel United Methodist Church, 57 Pitt street, Charleston, SC 29401.
