Jennie Sams

Jennie Venning Sams, 88, of Knoxville, TN, passed away Wednesday, September 22, 2010, in Tucker, GA. She and her husband of 67 years, `Bonum B. Sams, Sr. had recently relocated to Georgia to be near family. "Vee" was born October 22, 1921, in Charleston, SC. She graduated from Memminger High School and Limestone College.  A photo of her and college friends appeared in the March 1939, issue of the "National Geographic Maggazine" in the article "Charleston, Where Past and Present Meet".  She taught elementary school in Tucker, GA and did volunteer work while living in Tennesseee. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alan B. and Jennie Pinckney Smith, and sisters, Emilie N. Klima and Alayne B. Smith.  In addition to her husband, her survivors include three sons, BB Sams, Jr., (Barbara), Social Circle, GA, Alan B. Sams (Diane), Tucker, GA, and William B. Sams, San Diego, CA; grandchildren: Deidre Sams Davis (Will), Jennifer Sams Sweatman (Carl) and Alan B. Sams, Jr.; great grandson, Cameron Davis; sister, Margaret B. Freeman (Harry) of Mount Pleasant; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service for "Vee" will be at the graveside, Christ Episcopal Church on Thursday, September 30, 2010 at two o'clock.  In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes you to make a donation of the charity of one's choice.
