Jeffrey Daniel Doran

Jeffrey Daniel Doran of Charleston, SC passed away on August 6, 2023, after his brief battle with cancer. 

Jeff was born December 23, 1958, in Hartford, CT, son of the late James Leon Doran and the late Sandra Jarvis Ellingwood. He grew up in CT and RI before moving to SC. He was a hardwood flooring contractor. He loved the history of Ashley Hall Plantation, the Sottile family, and Clemson football.

His free time was spent playing golf, training animals, playing the harmonica, listening to music, walking and swimming at the beach, and most recently traveling with his wife and loyal dog, Hope. 

Jeff is survived by his devoted wife of 25 years, Joan Marie Kennerty Doran, of Charleston SC; stepson, William Arthur Ray, of Charleston SC; Brother-in-law, Joseph Tyson (Sally) and his nephew, Joe Tyson, of Savannah GA; Son, Nathan Alan Doran and fiancée, Kate Kendall of Worcester, MA; Former wife, Susan Arnold of Middletown, CT; Stepson, James Luurtsema (Niki) of West Hartford, CT; Sister, Cristine Starrett of East Greenwich, RI; Brother, Scott Doran (Jeanne) of Meggett, SC; Brother, Gary Doran (Janet) of Hickory, NC; Brother Alan Doran (Sherry) of Summerville, SC; Half-Brother, Harry Ellingwood (Amelia) of Stanley, NC; And many beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. He is also survived by his Stepmother, Joyce Doran of Newington, CT; Stepsisters, Lynn McKinnon Nowell (Chris) of Summerville, SC, and Mary Ellen McKinnon of Newington, CT; Stepbrothers John McKinnon of New Milford, Ct, and Roch McKinnon (Ann) of Summerton, SC, and was predeceased by stepbrother Fred McKinnon of Seattle, WA. 

Jeff's greatest source of happiness was being “Gramps” to his grandson, Jameson Andrew Doran. The pure love and strong bond they shared was remarkable and the memories will continue to live on in our hearts. 

At his request, there will be no services. A family celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made in his name to the animal shelter or animal rescue organization of your choice.
