Jeannette Carol Renaud

Jeannette Carol Renaud, 85, of Charleston, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest Saturday, January 21, 2023. Her Memorial Service will be Sunday, February 26, 2023, in the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., West Ashley Chapel at 2:00 pm. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. West Ashley Chapel, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway.

Jan was born June 6, 1937 in St. Johnsbury, Vermont, daughter of  the late Reynold Dennis Rice and Marjorie Caroline Moore. Jan was married to Robert Renaud on December 29th, 1956 in St. Johnsbury Vermont. They later divorced after 19 years; she never remarried.

Jan retired as a medical secretary at MUSC for the OB-GYN department after 35 years. She lived in Honolulu, Hawaii; Jackson, Mississippi; Anderson, SC;, Summerville, SC; Charleston, SC; and James Island, SC. She was lifetime member of St. James Episcopal Church on James Island where her daughter, Wendy, was married in 1994.

She loved her family, especially her 4 grandchildren, antiquing, decorating her home, and her many cats over the years. Jan was a strong survivor in life who fought off depression and breast cancer.

She is survived by her daughter, Wendy Renaud Hildebrand (Michael); son, Steven Robert Renaud (Teresa); and four grandchildren, Carly Hildebrand, Kevin Hildebrand, Bradley S. Renaud (Kristin), and Candice Renaud. She was predeceased by her oldest son, Bradley Robert Renaud, who passed away October 9th, 1961 at almost 3 3/4 years old, her sister, Jeanne McGinnis, and brother, Paul Rice.

We would like to thank all her caretakers and staff at Ashley Gardens Memory Care for all the love and support they gave Jan over her 7 years there. Especially Anne, Loretta, Allison, Shane, Tiffany  and Stephanie. Jan was one of the first residents in the new Ashley Gardens Building in 2016. Also thanks to the Crescent Hospice team of Katie, Kelly, Kathy and Elizabeth. She will be missed by many and her memories will always live on in us!
