Jeanne Carter Bedsole, 87, of Eatonton, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2018. Born October 12, 1930 in Charleston, SC, she was the daughter of the late Briley Carter and Gladys Halsall Carter. She is predeceased by her loving husband, Harry Carl Bedsole, Jr. and her beloved sister Precious Gregory.
She was an avid sports fan; always rooting on her favorite baseball team, the Atlanta Braves, and enjoyed watching any basketball game, having been a basketball player in her youth. She loved any type of puzzles; her son's remembering her always with a crossword book in her hand while they were growing up, and in later years she could be heard playing along with Alex Trebeck on Jeopardy. Jeanne was a retired middle school teacher.
Of all the things she loved, her absolute favorite was spending time with her family; her great-grandchildren especially would always bring a smile to her face and a sparkle to her eyes.
Jeanne will be greatly missed by her three sons and their wives: James M. and Lynne Bedsole of Eatonton, GA; Steven B. and Jennifer Bedsole of Somersworth, NH; and Thomas C. and Janis Bedsole of Greensboro, NC along with her six grandchildren, Heather (Bedsole) Kaufmann, Christine (Bedsole) Atkins, Corrin E. Bedsole, Kayleigh A. Bedsole, Kyle J. Bedsole and Stephen J. Bedsole and her 6 great-grandchildren. She also leaves her niece, nephews, brother-in-laws and sister-in-law.
The family would like to thank the dedicated and caring staff at The Pines at Commerce and the staff at Compassionate Care Hospice for all the care they provided.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, January 13, 2018 at the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel, 232 Calhoun Street, Charleston at 1:00 p.m. with Interment following at Magnolia Cemetery. The family will receive visitors Saturday at Stuhr's from 12:00-1:00.
