Jean Evans Watson

August 31, 1937 — December 18, 2011

Jean Marie Evans Watson, of Edisto Island, South Carolina, and formerly of Richmond, Virginia, died December 18, 2001 following a long illness. Jean was born August 31, 1937 in Orangeburg, South Carolina to Orangeburg policeman Lewis Carlisle Evans and Maude Lillian Brickle Evans. In addition to her parents, Jean's brothers Carlisle Edward Evans and William David Evans and sister Anna Elizabeth Evans Singleton have preceded her in death. Jean attended Limestone College in Gaffney, South Carolina, where she studied elementary education prior to embarking upon her life's work as wife and mother. Jean leaves behind the following loved ones: her husband of 53 years, Charles Maxcy Watson, Jr.; daughter Pamela Jeanne Watson and her daughter Maxcy Nicole Hill; son Charles Mark Watson; son William Carlisle Watson and his wife Dawn Bubb Watson and their sons Brandon Carlisle Watson and Corey Michael Watson; brother James Shecut Evans and his wife Rosemary Evans; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral arrangements are under the care of J. Henry Stuhr, West Ashley Chapel, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway, Charleston, SC 29414. The family will receive friends at Stuhr's West Ashley Chapel this Tuesday afternoon from 5:00 until 7:00 pm. A celebration of Jean's life and her graveside service will take place at The Presbyterian Church on Edisto Island, 2164 Highway 174, Edisto Island, SC 29438, Wednesday, December 21, 2011, at 11:00 am.
