Jean Schron Varn

Jean Schron Varn, 88, died peacefully in her sleep May 30, 2016, in Columbia, South Carolina. She was a longtime resident of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina and widow of Charles Varn, Sr. Her Funeral Service will be held Saturday, June 4, 2016 in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday in Stuhr's Mt. Pleasant Chapel at 12:30 p.m. until time of service. Jean was born May 1, 1928 in New York, New York, daughter of the late John Schron and Kathryn Carroll Schron. She was a former member of Hibben United Methodist Church in Mt. Pleasant. Jean is survived by her two sons: Charles Varn, Jr. (Audrey) of Columbia, SC and Frederick S. Varn (Kristy) of Fleming Island, FL; six grandchildren: Jennifer J. Tillman, Charles A. Varn, Laura B. Varn, Frederick S Varn, Jr., Kathryn S. Varn and William F. Varn. Jean was predeceased by her daughter, Jean Varn Tillman and a grandson, Gordon O. Tillman, Jr.Jean loved boating in the Intracoastal Waterway, visiting her Goat Island home, and gathering her friends and family around the kitchen table. Jean will be remembered as a strong willed woman of great integrity and incredible wisdom. She will be missed greatly.
