Jean Harlow Ansaldo, 87, of Bamberg, South Carolina, wife of the late Henry H. Ansaldo, Jr., entered into eternal rest Wednesday, January 1, 2025, after a long illness.
Jean was born August 24, 1937 in Charleston, South Carolina, daughter of James Patrick Harlow and Hazel Murray Harlow. She graduated from Bishop England High School and moved to Johns Island, SC after marrying Henry H. Ansaldo Jr. She remained on Johns Island until October 2024 when she moved to Bamberg, SC with her daughter and son.
She was a bookkeeper and later office manager with J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Downtown Funeral home for 27 years. Jean last worked for Calvert and Company Accounting in Charleston, SC as a bookkeeper and tax preparer. Jean was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Johns Island SC. She had a great love for her family and friends. She also had a great love for her pet cats.
Jean is survived by her two children: daughter, Leslie Jean Ansaldo and son, James Michael Ansaldo; both of Bamberg, SC, grandchildren: Katherine "Katie" Hay Hilton (Joshua) of Cottageville, SC, Christopher R. Hay (Heather) of Clementon, NJ; great-grandchild, Nathan Hay of Clementon, NJ; sister-in-law, Mary Jeanne Matlock (Mike) of Easley, SC; and many friends. Jean was excitedly looking forward to the arrival of her next great-grandchild, Jonathan Carroll Hilton, in the next couple of weeks.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Henry H. Ansaldo Jr.; son, Henry "Hank" H. Ansaldo III; infant daughter; Julia Marie Ansaldo; her parents James and Hazel Harlow, and mother-in-law; Julia T. Ansaldo.
She will be missed greatly but always remembered.
There will be a celebration of her life at a later date in Charleston, SC. Interment will also be held at a later date in Holy Cross Cemetery. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel.
