Jasper Owens, 83, of Charleston, SC, widower of Loretta Lazare Owens, entered into eternal rest Friday, October 7, 2016. His funeral service will be held Wednesday, October 12, 2016, in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL, 232 Calhoun Street, at 11:00 a.m. Interment, Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Tuesday at Stuhr's Downtown Chapel from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.

Jasper was born February 14, 1933 in Orangeburg, SC, son of the late John M. Owens and Ruth Singletary Owens. He was retired from Mead Westvaco as a Quality Control Administrator. Jasper was a member of Fort Johnson Baptist Church and served in the S.C. Army National Guard for 14 years. He was a devoted father and grandfather, a true family man that loved his family.

He is survived by a son, Wayne Owens of Greer, SC; a daughter, Cindy Owens Salters (Johnny) of Charleston, SC; two grandchildren, Chad E. McMillan (Krystal), and Ashley N. Yoh (Tony); two sisters, Clara O. Cercopely of Charleston, SC, and Margaret O. Logan of Fort Lauderdale, FL; two great-grandchildren, Rayden C. Yoh and Reece C. Yoh; and two step-grandchildren: Summer Tubridy and Victoria Moon.
