The world became a little quieter on Thursday, April 9, when Jason Stokes passed away, leaving behind a life lived with love and joyful presence.
Born in Florence, South Carolina, Jason loved hard - big hugs, huge smiles, and loud laughs were his signature. He was passionate about music and possessed an incredible sense of rhythm that found its way into everything he did. Jason’s perfect evening was dinner at The Wild Olive followed by a jam session with friends and family at The Commodore, where his laughter and music filled the room.
Most of all, Jason loved his family. His wife, Page, shared his love of adventure, travel, and fine cuisine, creating lasting memories filled with beautiful places and great meals. Jason showed up for those who needed him, connecting with people in a way few others could. He had a rare gift for making ordinary moments memorable and for turning small gatherings into celebrations of life.
Of all the people in his life, Jason reserved the largest share of his love for his two children. He was so proud of Jack and Conley, and was often telling anyone who would listen about their latest accomplishments. He was such a great dad and loved them as deeply as any human could.
Jason is survived by his wife Page, and his two children Jack (11) and Conley (9) of Charleston, SC. He is also survived by his parents, Beth and Steve Stokes of Florence, SC and his brother Stephen Stokes Jr (Elizabeth “Bizzy”) of Columbia, SC, brother-in-law John Goodwin (Louise) of Charleston, SC, father-in-law Tom Goodwin of Roanoke, VA, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends who will carry his stories, his music, and his generous spirit forward.
A ceremony will be held at J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., West Ashley Chapel, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway on April 17 at 1:00 pm. A celebration of his life will follow on Saturday, April 18 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at The Royal American, 970 Morrison Dr, Charleston, SC 29403.
Those who wish to honor Jason’s memory are invited to play a song he loved, share a story, or offer a small act of kindness in his name.
