Jarvis Ray Embry

Jarvis Ray Embry, 83, of North Charleston, South Carolina, husband of Jo Anne Wansley Embry, entered into eternal rest Thursday, June 6, 2024. He was born in Hodge, LA, to Jarvis Miriam Embry, and Helen Knight Embry, on October 21, 1940.

Ray grew up in Macon, GA, he attended Freed Hardeman College and Georgia Military College; each for one year. He decided they were not a good fit for him and opted to join the U.S. Navy for four years. After leaving service he attended Southern Tech, in Marietta, GA, where he met his future wife, Jo Anne, whom he married in 1967. They lived in Carrolton, GA and Orangeburg, SC before deciding to settle in the Low Country. After moving to the Charleston area Ray was the proprietor of RKO Screen Printing and Awards Company. After 27 years and many memories, he decided to sell the company and retire to enjoy the area he loved to live in.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Mark Anthony Embry of North Charleston, SC, and John Milam Embry of Macon, GA.

In addition to his wife of 56 years, he is survived by his niece, Jenifer Embry Nesmith (Jeff) Fort Lauderdale, FL; and nephew, Nathan Embry (Juli) Juliette, GA.

Special appreciation to Medical Staff at MUSC who cared for Ray during his final hours. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your professional care and companionship! You truly made our final hours together most comforting.
