Janna (Georgieanna) Pauls Peele, a beloved member of the Mt. Pleasant community, passed away on January 27, 2025, at the age of 88. Born on October 24, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Anna Oltmann Pauls and Edward Cord Pauls.

Janna's vibrant spirit shone through during her formative years as she excelled in sports while attending Rivers High School. Her dedication and talent were recognized when she was honored as the female athlete of the year in 1954, the same year she graduated. Following her high school years, Janna furthered her education at the College of Charleston, where she joined the Chi Omega Sorority, forging lifelong friendships and unforgettable memories.

Janna and Jimmy were high school sweethearts who married in 1956. Together, they built a life filled with adventure and joy. Their early years included a brief stint in Columbia while Jimmy served in the Army. They later returned to live in Mt. Pleasant.

In retirement, Janna and Jimmy embraced the spirit of exploration by purchasing a travel trailer, which enabled them to tour throughout the United States and Canada, creating lasting memories along the way.

Janna is survived by her loving family, including her daughter, Patty Bolchoz (Joey), and her son, Jody Peele (Jerianne). She leaves behind a legacy of love through her grandchildren, Trey Bolchoz (Melia), Beth Bellebaum (Andrew), and Allie Loew (Chris), as well as her great-grandchildren, Cord and Fritz Bellebaum, Charlotte and Ford Bolchoz, and Everett and Hudson Loew.

A Funeral Service to celebrate Janna’s life will be held on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at 11:00 am at the J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel, located at 1494 Mathis Ferry Road. Interment will follow at Mt. Pleasant Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 am at the chapel. Arrangements are entrusted to J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Mount Pleasant Chapel.

Janna Pauls Peele will be remembered for her athleticism, adventurous spirit, and unwavering love for her family. Her presence will be profoundly missed, yet her legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
