Janie Chavis Bryant

Janie Chavis Bryant, 84 years of age, passed away on June 18, 2022. She was the beloved wife of Robert L. Bryant (Bobby) for 64 years. Together they raised three sons on Sullivan's Island, Robert L. Bryant Jr. (Jayne) of Mt. Pleasant, Steven L. Bryant (Tamara) of Isle of Palms, and Thomas L. Bryant (Karen) of Mt. Pleasant. She and Bobby relocated from Sullivan's Island to Isle of Palms upon Bobby's promotion to U.S. Postmaster where they enjoyed many breakfasts at the Sea Biscuit Cafe with friends. They later relocated to Mt. Pleasant and continued the breakfast tradition at Boulevard Diner.

Janie excelled at office work over the years and retired from Amoco Chemical after twenty years of service. She was also a loyal servant at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Mt. Pleasant where she and Bobby provided a helping hand for many years.

She is pre-deceased by her parents of Columbia, John Grady Chavis and Lucille Rimer Chavis, as well as her eldest brother, John William Chavis (Billy). She is survived by her husband, sons, brother Joseph Eugene Chavis (Joe), sister Patricia Chavis Zeigler (Patsy), as well as several nieces and nephews. Grandchildren and great-grandchildren, in heart if not blood, brought much joy into her life.

A memorial service will be held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 604 Pitt St., Mt. Pleasant on Friday, June 24, 2022, at 2:00 pm with a reception in the historic church immediately following. Any memorial gifts in her honor should be made to the same.
