Janett Hilton Carter

Entered into eternal rest on the morning of June 14, 2011, Janett Hilton Carter, wife of Ernest O. Carter.  Residence, Charleston, SC. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest O. Carter are invited to attend the memorial services of the latter, Monday, June 20, 2011 at 2:00 pm in Martin Luther Lutheran Church. The family will receive friends after the service in the Church Social Hall. There will be a private burial in Riverview Memorial Park.

Mrs. Carter was born September 1, 1940, Ridgeville, SC, the daughter of William Henry Hilton and Lila Janett Smith Hilton.  She was a graduate of St. Francis School of Nursing in 1961 and became an active member of Martin Luther Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her husband of Charleston, SC; two sons: Duane Gehlken of Charleston, SC and Richard Carter and his wife Cathy Reid of Washington Crossing, PA; one daughter: Carol Carter Green and her husband Steve of Charleston, SC; one sister: Annie Leach and her husband Ken of Summerville, SC; one brother: Claud Hilton and his wife Rosemary of Ridgeville, SC; four grandchildren: Ashley Green, Austin Green, Claire Read and Sara Read; and one niece and four nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, William "Bubba" Henry Hilton, Jr.
