Janet was baptized into the Roman Catholic Church on August 7, 1960. At the time of her passing she had transferred her church membership to Ramsey Memorial Methodist Church in Gulfport, Mississippi. She earned Associates Degrees from both the University of Southern Mississippi and from Trident Technical College in South Carolina.

Survivors include her husband, Charles L. Moore; her mother: Rosemarie J. Votava Schlueter of James Island; daughters: Carole Lynn Moore of Johns Island and Jennifer Dawn Moore Partin of Wadmalaw Island; brother: Robert A. "Lady Jan" died from metastatic breast cancerone of the most insidious diseases to plague mankindyet every request for even a sip of water was preceded by "please". She was a helper of the homeless, a benefactor to stray animals, helped with The Samaritan's Purse project and was a mother to all she met. She always put others before herself, and rarely asked for anything. This past Christmas, she chose to have toys bought for the children of others, instead of having the money spent on gifts for her. She shared her dreams with othersby sacrificing her material desires in order to promote the dreams and needs of her family and otherseven to the point of sharing herself with those in need after her passing. Her eyes will see forever through others. She will be missed and loved eternally by her family and all who came to know her. The "silver cord" of ECCLESIASTES 12, verse 6 may no longer be tethered to the earthly body, but without a doubt is tethered to the Lord. God bless her, and may she rest in peace!

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Charleston Breast Cancer, 1930 Charlie Hall Blvd, Charleston, SC 29414.
