Janet N. Gilston

November 27, 1936 — February 11, 2016

Janet Novit Gilston, 79, of Charleston, South Carolina, wife of David M. Gilston entered into eternal rest Thursday, February 11, 2016. Her funeral service will be held graveside Sunday, February 14, 2016 in Brith Sholom Beth Israel (Maryville), Sycamore Avenue at 1:00 p.m. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel.

Janet was born November 27, 1936 in Walterboro, South Carolina, daughter of the late Sam Novit and Frieda Lipsitz Novit Potolsky. She graduated from Walterboro public schools and attended the University of SC where she met her future husband. Janet was a loving and faithful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

In addition to her husband, David, Janet is survived by her daughters, Phyllis Katzen (Marvin) and Sherry Bryson (Tim); son, Samuel Gilston (Michelle) all of Charleston, SC; five grandchildren: Emily Lieberman of New York, NY, Bernard Novit of Skokie, IL, Noah Gilston, Jacob Bryson and Max Gilston; two great-grandchildren Reuven Chai Lieberman and Ruthie Novit; and two brothers Mitchell Novit of Bloomington, IN and Rob Novit of Aiken, SC.

The family wishes to thank Carolyn Coaxum for her loving care.
