Jane Buchanan Moonly, wife of Charles W. Moonly, Jr., died October 18, 2011 in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina.
The relatives and friends of Jane Moonly are invited to attend her Memorial Service on Friday, October 21, 2011 in J. HENRY STUHR MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL at 2:00 pm. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery, Johnstown, PA at a later date. The family will receive friends at the chapel immediately following the memorial service.
She was the daughter of the late Nell Sullivan Buchanan and George C. Buchanan of Johnstown, Pennsylvania. Jane was a graduate of the former Southmont High School, Johnstown, class of 1941. She attended Penn State University and graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She was a teacher in the Westmont Schools, Johnstown, from 1960 to 1983. She was a 68-year member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. She had also been a member of Visitation Church, Johnstown. Jane and her husband enjoyed traveling and had traveled in forty-seven of the lower forty-eight states. She had also traveled to Europe and Alaska with her daughter, Karen.
She is survived by her husband to whom she was married for sixty-nine years. She is also survived by her daughter Karen M. Bryant married to Captain Franklin S. Bryant of Mt. Pleasant, two grandchildren Elizabeth B. Gill and Colby E. Bryant, and four great grandchildren Bryant H. Gill, Ansley S. Gill, Benjamin E. H. Bryant and Victoria C. H. Bryant. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson Matthew Charles Bryant and her sisters Jeanne Buchanan Rhoads and Joyce Buchanan Davis.
