Jane Edwards, 84, of Charleston, South Carolina, wife of Donald L Edwards, entered into eternal rest Monday, October 7, 2024. Her Funeral Service will be held Saturday, October 12, 2024 in the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., West Ashley Chapel, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway at 11:00 am. Burial will immediately follow at Live Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10:00 am to 11:00 am in J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., West Ashley Chapel.
Jane was born July 12, 1940 in Charleston, South Carolina, daughter of the late Clinton Beach and Janie Beach. She was a homemaker and loving mother and wife. Jane was a devoted wife to her husband, Donald, with whom she shared a beautiful journey of love and companionship. Together, they built a life filled with joy and happiness. Her role as a mother was her greatest achievement. She nurtured her children with love and celebrated their every success. Jane and Donald were long-time members of Grace United Methodist Church.
Jane was known for her passion for shag dancing, a love she shared deeply with her husband. Together, they graced many dance floors, competing in numerous shag dance contests and winning the admiration of many with their graceful moves and undeniable chemistry. Their love for dance created countless cherished memories. Beyond competing, Jane was a dedicated teacher, sharing her love for shag dancing with students of all ages. Her classes were filled with laughter, learning, and the infectious rhythm of the dance she adored. She had a unique ability to make everyone feel welcome and confident, turning beginners into passionate dancers. She was a life member of the Islanders Shag Club and in 2020 she was inducted into the Charleston Area Shaggers Hall of Fame.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by son Lee Edwards (Darla), and two daughters, Ellen Babilon (Mike) and Nancy Carson (Bart), nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by granddaughter Jessie Mae Yuschishin.
