Jane Lee Dennis, 89, of Charleston, South Carolina, widow of Marvin Everett Dennis entered into eternal rest Sunday, September 10, 2017. Her Funeral Service will be held Friday, September 15, 2017 in J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway at 1:00 p.m. The family will receive friends Friday in Stuhr's West Ashley Chapel from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be private.
Jane was born October 8, 1927 in Sumter, South Carolina, daughter of the late Algenon Brevard Lee and Marie Hancock Lee. Jane graduated from Edmunds High School in Sumter and moved to Washington, DC during World War II, and worked for the FBI. She moved back to Sumter and worked at Shaw Air Force Base, where she met her husband, Marvin. After they married, they moved to Manning, SC, where Marvin ran his father's farm. In the mid-1950's, they moved to Charleston, where Marvin established a home construction business. Jane continued to live in Charleston after Marvin's death. Jane and Marvin became members of First Baptist Church in Charleston in the 1950's and remained faithful and active members of that congregation.
She is survived by her children, Stephen Winston Dennis and Sheila Dennis Bailey, both of Charleston, SC and son, Malcolm Everett Dennis (Sonya) of Statesville, NC; two sisters, Evelyn Lee Ihmle of Charleston, SC, and Linda Lee Gill (Gordon) of Annandale, VA; and a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, as well as nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her two brothers, Allison Bingley and Thomas Carlisle.
