Jane Usinger Brescia

September 20, 1951 — June 26, 2013

Jane Usinger Brescia, 61, of Charleston, South Carolina, wife of Frank J. Brescia, MD passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2013. Her funeral mass will be held in Chicago, IL in July and a memorial service will be held in Charleston later this summer.

Jane was born September 20, 1951 in East Chicago, Indiana, daughter of Richard L. Usinger and the late Vera Nickell Usinger. She earned her Masters degrees from Purdue University and DePaul University. Jane was a member of The Cathedral of St. John the Baptist and a Dame of the Knights of Malta. She carried the Olympic Torch in the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. Jane's independent spirit, compassion and love of life were cherished by her friends and family.

She is survived by her husband, Frank J. Brescia of Charleston, SC; her father, Richard L. Usinger of Lansing, IL; her children, Matthew Usinger Goginsky and Joy Brescia; stepchildren, Andria Brescia, Frank Brescia, Michaelann Cooke, Monica Brescia; grandchildren, Anthony Brescia and Lucia Cooke; siblings, Michael Usinger, Carla Pelfrey and Steve Usinger and her beloved friend, Lorraine Grieve.
